The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) is looking for leads in a shooting that left one person dead in southwest Gainesville on Friday.
According to a GPD Facebook post, the shooting occurred at SW 31st Place and 26th Terrace, which is in the same area as a fatal shooting and a fatal stabbing that took place in December.
“The victim was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head,” said the GPD Facebook post, which was time-stamped 10:27 p.m. “Sadly, the victim died this evening at the hospital.”
GPD did not release the approximate time of the shooting or any details about the victim.
“Detectives continue to pursue leads in this case, and we’ll share details as they become available,” the Facebook post said. “No suspect info at this time.”
