NE 33rd Avenue shooting kills one

One person died from a gunshot wound sustained Friday afternoon following a physical altercation on NE 33rd Avenue.

According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) spokesperson, officers responded to a call of someone being shot in the 300 block of NE 33rd Avenue at 12:27 p.m.

When officers arrived, they discovered a person who had been shot. Emergency responders took the victim to a local hospital where the victim died.

All parties involved in the incident are being interviewed by GPD detectives and more information will be released as it is made available.

NW or NE 33rd? I’ve seen it reported both ways. Please clarify and confirm.

It was NE 33rd, according to GPD. We have corrected this post.
