A Live Oak man was arrested Friday morning after he admitted to killing his father.

According to a Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) release, the SCSO Communications Center received a 911 call on Friday morning regarding a person injured at a residence in the 4000 block of 89th Road in Live Oak.
When deputies arrived, they discovered Norman Ellis, 89, was deceased after suffering blunt force trauma to the head.
Ellis’s son, Alton Ellis, 59, was at the scene and reportedly made several spontaneous statements to the deputies and admitted he had harmed his father. He later stated, in a post-Miranda interview with SCSO investigators, that he killed his father following a verbal dispute.
Alton Ellis was arrested and charged with homicide. He is in the Suwannee County Jail.
