A Lake City man was arrested on Tuesday for possessing a firearm by a convicted felon and having narcotics.
According to a Lake City Police Department (LCPD) release, officers arrested Eugene Jefferson II, 34, after they arrived at a residence to collect evidence of a sexual battery.
When officers arrived to serve the sexual battery warrant, they observed narcotics in the living room. The officers secured the residence and obtained a search warrant for the narcotics.
Both search warrants were then served, and during the search of the residence, a firearm was discovered in Jefferson’s bedroom. Jefferson, a convicted felon, is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Officers arrested Jefferson, who is not involved in the sexual battery case, and was transported to the Columbia County Detention Center.
