Human remains discovered in SW Lake City

Human remains were discovered in a wooded lot near 637 SW Commerce Drive in Lake City on Wednesday.

According to a Lake City Police Department (LCPD) release, officers were dispatched in reference to the discovery of possible human remains. After checking the area, officers confirmed the skeletal remains were human.

At this time, the identity of the deceased and the cause of death has not been determined. The remains were collected by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and sent to the medical examiner.
