The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is investigating a possible homicide of a female who was found Sunday morning in a field near the area of SW Haltiwanger Road.

According to a CCSO release, deputies were dispatched to the area of SW Haltiwanger Road to the report of a body found.

Upon arrival, the complainant showed deputies the location where the remains were found. The body was identified as that of an adult white female.

Detectives are working on identifying the victim and foul play is suspected.

 “It is never easy to deal with these types of cases,” said Columbia County Sheriff Mark Hunter in a press release. “This is someone’s loved one. While we would rather not have these types of senseless tragedies happen, I am confident in our team’s ability to investigate this case and bring whoever is responsible to justice.”
