GPD releases info on hit-and-run vehicle

The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) released a description of the vehicle that hit and killed a cyclist on Monday morning.

In a GPD release, the vehicle that fled the scene is a 2016-2022 Volvo XC90 sports utility vehicle. The license plate number is not known.

The incident occurred in the 3300 block of S. Main Street around 9:38 a.m. on Monday. Emergency responders pronounced the cyclist dead on scene.

GPD requests anyone with information to call 352-955-1818.

How many 2016-2022 Volvo XC90 SUV’s registered in Alachua County can there be? I get there isn’t any evidence that the owner is local, but it’s a likely bet.
