
The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) is investigating six gunfire incidents that occurred over the past week.
According to a GPD release sent Monday afternoon, two people were injured and four of the six incidents were reportedly drive-by shootings that are possibly related.
On Oct. 4, at 12:08 am., multiple officers responded to a call of shots fired at the 700 block of NW 3rd Street. The investigation revealed the victim and offender got into an argument when the offender pulled a handgun and fired two shots into the air. The offender fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.
On Oct. 5, at 4:30 a.m., officers responded to several shots fired from a vehicle around 6200 NW 26th Street.
On Oct. 6, at 8:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 6100 block of NW 26th Street to a report of a drive-by shooting. One juvenile male was reportedly by gunfire and transported to the hospital.
On Oct. 7, at 2:30 a.m., officers responded to the Circle K gas station at 1515 N. Main St. to a person shot in the parking lot. Officers found a victim with multiple gunshot wounds and provided aid until Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responders arrived.
Two drive-by incidents took place on Oct. 8 with one at 2:22 a.m. in the 1900 block of NW 39th Place that affected a residence. At 2:30 a.m., officers conducting increased patrols in the area responded to the 6100 block of NW 26th Terrace for the second drive-by shooting. The suspects fled in a vehicle later located abandoned in Alachua.
