The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) is urging anyone who may have been a victim or has knowledge of any crimes committed by former Gainesville mayoral candidate Adam Rosenthal to come forward.
In a GPD release sent Monday, the department is notifying the public about Rosenthal, 39, who was arrested recently in Tennessee for murder, aggravated assault and tampering with evidence in connection to the stabbing death of Darren Gambrel. Gambrel’s body was found near Pulaski, Tennessee. Rosenthal and Gambrel were both associated with a religious group known as the Twelve Tribes and Gambrel’s body was found on property used by the group.

Rosenthal is now being charged with the murder of 59-year-old Albert Knight, a homeless man, who was found dead on May 26 in Macon, Georgia. Knight was attacked in an alleyway. A warrant was obtained on Dec. 4 for Knight’s murder.
In GPD’s release, the police want to bring justice to victims and their families. Anyone with information on potential crimes related to Rosenthal is asked to call either 352-393-7663 or 352-393-7334.
Rosenthal, who ran for mayor in 2022 and tallied 236 votes in the nine-person race, was reported missing from the Gainesville area in June.
