Gainesville police seek public’s help with September hit-and-run

The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) is seeking assistance in identifying the driver involved in a hit-and-run that happened on Sept. 1 in the 1000 block of West University Avenue.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. when a red sedan traveling eastbound struck two pedestrians as they were crossing the road in a non-crosswalk area. The driver did not stop and fled the scene.

Both pedestrians suffered serious injuries and emergency responders transported them to a local hospital.
