A Gainesville man received multiple life sentences for a capital sexual battery case that involved a child under 12.
According to a State Attorney’s Office release sent Monday, a jury found Graden Olliedees Smith, 42, guilty on two counts of capital sexual battery on a person under 12 years old, lewd and lascivious exhibition and providing obscenity to a minor after 19 hours of deliberation.
Judge William E. Davis sentenced Smith to two life sentences for counts 1 and 3 capital sexual battery, 15 years for count 2 lewd and lascivious exhibition and five years for count four giving obscenity to a minor.
Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers were contacted by the victim on June 28, 2019, regarding sexual abuse that had occurred multiple times between the summer of 2007 through 2009.
An investigation by GPD detectives led to Smith, who was already in custody on unrelated charges.
