The second suspect accused of kidnapping and murdering Demiah Appling was arrested on Friday evening.

According to a Dixie County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) social media post on Saturday morning, deputies announced the arrest of Waymore Gerhardt and charged him with premeditated murder, kidnapping, aggravated child abuse, tampering with evidence and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
On Thursday evening, DCSO deputies arrested Keith Anderson.
Both Gerhardt and Anderson are suspects in the kidnapping and murder of 14-year-old Demiah Appling. The Old Town girl disappeared from her Suwannee Gardens home at 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 16 and she was reported missing on Oct. 24, leading to a community-wide search.
Appling’s remains were discovered in Gilchrist County on Dec. 5 with the medical examiner ruling her death a homicide.
According to a DCSO Nov. 9 social media post, forensic evidence found led investigators to develop persons of interest in Appling’s disappearance.
