
A Hitchcock’s employee was injured during an armed robbery at Hitchcock’s Supermarket in Alachua on Monday night.
According to an Alachua Police Department (APD) release sent Tuesday, officers responded to the report of an armed robbery at 9:34 p.m. at the Hitchcock’s Supermarket located at 15560 NW US Highway 441.
When they arrived, officers discovered that an unknown male armed suspect brandished a firearm to a Hitchcock’s employee as they were closing the store. The suspect allegedly demanded the employee open the store’s safe. The employee complied and the suspect took off with a large sum of money. The suspect also allegedly pistol-whipped the employee prior to leaving the scene.
The store employee sustained minor injures and emergency responders transported the victim to the hospital.
