
Gainesville police officers are searching for a suspect who allegedly shot three people Sunday night at an Easter egg hunt held in TB McPherson Park.
According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) press release, the incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. when a crowd, estimated at over 1,000 people, was at the Easter egg hunt when gunfire erupted.
Three adults were shot, according to the GPD, and the shooter fled the park. The suspect was identified as a Black male who wearing red shorts and a gray hoodie.
The victims were transported to UF Health Shands Hospital. One person sustained life-threatening injuries and the other two suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
