Around 2,000 local people applied online for a free roof giveaway, but there was only one winner out of the bunch — Sara Hannah.
Worthmann Construction owner Drew Worthmann and staff members gathered in High Springs Friday evening for their third annual Free Roof Giveaway.
The event was held outside Hannah’s home, where she was handed an oversized check for a free roof installment.
“On Christmas day, they had called and said I won a new roof,” said Hannah in an interview. “I really thought this whole thing was a joke. It is a blessing. Knowing my family will be safe for the next 20 years means the world to me. Family is everything to me, so for my babies to be safe makes me beyond grateful.”
The event began with a short speech from Worthman General Manager Eli Ott, followed by the check presentation.
After the small ceremony, workers climbed onto Hannah’s home and took measurements of the roof’s surface area for the new installment.
The Worthmann’s Free Roof Giveaway was created to thank the local community for their support and business. The giveaway is aimed at helping a community member in need by replacing their roof for free.
“We love giving back, and we look forward to continuing giving free roofs away in the future,” Ott said. “We saw a need in the community for affordable, high-quality roofs, so we decided this is the least we can do for an amazing community that embraced us.”
The event featured local community members, officials, Worthmann staff, and free food and refreshments.
