Rock fans now have a weekday morning show host to wake up to on Rock It 100.5 FM.
On Monday, Harley Roxx kicked off her new 6 to 10 a.m. show on WHHZ, Gainesville’s progressive and vintage rock station.
Roxx recently moved to Gainesville from Houston after stints on Houston’s The Eagle KGLK and in Reno, Nevada, on KOZZ. She got her start as a digital air personality on Rock Rage Radio in 2016.
With the Florida Gators men’s basketball team winning the NCAA Tournament on April 7, MARC Radio program manager Vinny Foo said it was perfect timing for Roxx to make the move to Gainesville.
“Not only did the Gators beat Houston, but we took their best radio personality as well, and we’ve converted her to a Gator already,” Foo said. “She’s been to the [UF] bookstore, and she knows how to do the Gator Chomp correctly.”
And now Roxx will bring her style to the weekday morning airwaves in Gainesville.
“If you want a lot of entertaining rock’n fun, giveaways, live interviews with some of your favorite artists, plus all your local Gator Nation sports updates, tune in weekdays 6-10 a.m.,” said Roxx.
One of the major reasons for the move included Florida’s bustling music scene.
“Florida in general, and even Northern Florida, the music scene is fantastic, and I’ve been looking at that from afar,” Roxx said. “Even the local bands out here just hustle so much harder. But, it appears, they support each other way more.”
Foo said Roxx’s addition is a major plus for the new station format, which made the switch to hard rock music in September 2024.
“Now all of our rock listeners will have a total companion to wake up to, to commute to work, and her flavor is going to be all over the station,” he said. “She’s doing production and will carry a few other hats as well. I’m excited for our listeners because they now get an awesome morning show host.”
Roxx has already brought her special touch to Rock It’s social media platforms, along with her “Shout Out Karaoke” contest, where listeners have a chance to win a pair of weekend passes to the “Welcome To Rockville,” billed as North America’s largest rock music festival, that will take place May 15-18 in Daytona Beach.
To win tickets, listeners need to listen weekdays to Mornings With Harley for the song of the day, then record themselves singing the song by using the free Rock It 100.5 app. Roxx will announce a winner each weekday during the 9 a.m. hour.
MARC Media Group, which owns Rock It 100.5 and Mainstreet Daily News, has other Gainesville stations that include Magic 100.3, R&B 94.1, 106.9 I Am Country, The Beach 100.9, 96.3 FM/1430 AM The Shepherd and 103.5 FM/720 AM in Ocala.
