Florida pump prices decrease for the second straight week.
The national average for gas lowered six cents to $3.43 per gallon. In Florida, gas fell nine cents from $3.48 to $3.39 and $3.51 to $3.44 in Gainesville.
“Drivers may have a little more in their wallets as we head toward Valentine’s Day,” AAA spokesperson Andrew Gross said in a statement. “And if gas demand and oil costs remain low, drivers will likely see pump prices drop through next week.”
According to the Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) data, gas demand dropped from 8.49 million barrels per day (b/d) to 8.43 million b/d last week. If gas demand remains low, pump prices will continue to fall.
Florida has the 16 most expensive average in the U.S. at $3.39 per gallon. A month ago, the average cost was $3.33; last year, it was $3.50.
According to gasbuddy.com, here are the lowest prices to fill up in Alachua County:
- $3.19 at Sam’s Club, 4400 SW 33rd Place, Gainesville.
- $3.22 at Murphy Express, 6323 NW 23rd St., Gainesville.
- $3.24 at Circle K, 4565 NW 13th St., Gainesville.
- $3.26 at Sunoco, 4207 NW 13th St., Gainesville.
- $3.28 at The Short Stop, 2610 NE 39th Ave., Gainesville.
- $3.29 at Love’s Travel Stop, 5615 SE US-301, Hawthorne.
- $3.29 at Circle K, 20 NE Waldo Road, Gainesville.
- $3.29 at Circle K, 5237 SW 20th Ave., Gainesville.
- $3.29 at Wawa, 4322 SW Archer Road, Gainesville.
