After several weeks of continuous price spikes at the pump, Florida witnessed a slight drop.
The national average for gas slid three cents since last week to $3.47 per gallon. In Florida, gas fell eight cents from $3.56 to $3.48 and $3.57 to $3.51 in Gainesville.
“Keep an eye on the price of oil, because oil currently accounts for nearly 60% of what we pay at the pump,” AAA spokesperson Andrew Gross said in a statement. “And rising or falling oil prices can have a direct impact on motorists’ wallets.”
According to Energy Information Administration (EIA) data, gas demand rose from 8.14 million barrels per day (b/d) to 8.49 b/d last week. However, even with gas demand increasing, the total supply growth assists with limiting price spikes at the pumps.
Florida has the 16th most expensive average at $3.48 per gallon. A month ago, the average cost was $3.30; last year, it was $3.46.

- $3.29 at Sam’s Club, 4400 SW 33rd Place, Gainesville.
- $3.32 at Murphy Express, 6323 NW 23rd St., Gainesville.
- $3.34 at The Short Stop, 2610 NE 39th Ave., Gainesville.
- $3.34 at Circle K, 5708 NW 34th St., Gainesville.
- $3.36 at Sunoco, 4207 NW 13th St., Gainesville.
- $3.36 at Circle K 4565 NW 13th St., Gainesville.
