Los Angeles-based, fast-casual franchise Dave’s Hot Chicken will open its newest location in the Butler Shopping Center District on Friday, July 26.

The grand opening will start at 11:00 a.m. The new 3524 SW Archer Rd. Ste. 110 spot is one of five announced to open throughout Jacksonville and Gainesville.

Dave’s Hot Chicken began as the dream of three East Hollywood childhood friends in 2017. Chef Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan and Tommy Rubenyan launched the restaurant out of a parking lot with $900, portable fryers and folding tables.

The parking lot setup soon turned into a brick-and-mortar storefront before franchising began in 2019. Dave’s has sold the rights to over 700 locations across the US, Canada and the Middle East and received investment from notable names such as Usher and Billboard’s Artist of the Decade, Drake.

Dave’s Hot Chicken specializes in hot chicken sliders and tenders available at different levels of spiciness, from “no sweat” to the “Reaper,™” which customers must sign waivers to eat. Sides of house-made kale Slaw, mac n’ cheese and french fries help cool down the spice.

Dave’s hours of operation in the Butler Shopping Center District will be 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday to Thursday and 11 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday.
