Cost at pump remains same in Gainesville area

Gas prices in the Gainesville area remained unchanged since last week while the average cost per gallon rose five cents statewide.

According to Thursday’s AAA numbers, the Gainesville area remained at $3.59 over the past week. In Florida, the average price went from $3.51 to $3.56. The national average gas price increased from $3.56 to $3.63.

Thursday’s national average of $3.63 is 24 cents more than last month’s $3.39. Last year, the price was at $3.60.

Florida is the 16th most expensive state in price per gallon at $3.51. Last month, gas was $3.32 per gallon and last year it was $3.46 statewide.  

In the Gainesville area, last month’s price was $3.42 per gallon, and last year it was $3.57.

According to gasbuddy.com, here are the lowest prices to fill up in Alachua County: 

  • $3.36 at Circle K, 15089 NW US 441, Alachua
  • $3.39 at Love’s Travel Stop, 5615 SE US 301, Hawthorne
  • $3.39 at Pilot, 17276 US 301, Waldo
  • $3.39 at Texaco, 6850 SE US 301, Hawthorne
  • $3.43 at Chevron, 830 NW 1st St., High Springs
  • $3.44 at Shell, 7015 US 301, Hawthorne
  • $3.49 at Murphy’s Express, 6323 NW 23rd St., Gainesville
  • $3.41 at Sunoco, 4207 NW 13th St., Gainesville
