Southwest Gainesville’s family-owned Blue Gill Quality Foods is relocating to the Butler Shopping Center District.

The new location, 2917 SW 35 Dr., is expected to open this summer.

“We’re thrilled to have the Gill family join the Butler family,” Butler Enterprises Vice President of Marketing Ashley Bryant told Mainstreet. “We’ve always been big fans of Chef Gill. He’s an entrepreneur and fantastic business owner.”

Tara and Bert Gill opened Blue Gill in 2011, serving what they call an “eclectic local cuisine with a southern flair.” The new location will continue cooking up favorites such as fried green tomatoes, buffalo cauliflower, pork rind fried chicken, shrimp and grits, fried pie and made-to-order frozen custard, and offer a full bar with local draft beer, wine and craft cocktails.

The menu will also include raw bar items, lobster, daily specials and locally sourced produce, seafood, and beef. Chef Bert Gill and his family said in a press release they will continue to support locally-grown, sustainable agriculture.

Blue Gill’s hours will initially be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays through Mondays and closed on Tuesdays. Reservations for dinner are recommended and offsite catering will be available.
