A pedestrian was hit and killed crossing NW 8th Avenue in Gainesville on Tuesday.
According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) report Wednesday afternoon, officers responded at 12:30 p.m. to the collision, which involved a vehicle driving northbound on NW 10th Street. It turned left onto NW 8th Avenue, striking a 22-year-old female in the crosswalk.
First responders transported the pedestrian to UF Shands Health, where she was pronounced dead.
GPD’s Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the incident and no charges or citations have been issued at this time.
