Today’s senior spotlight is Lance Minson of the Lake City Columbia golf and baseball teams. Minson, who lettered four years in baseball, won offensive MVP his junior year with a .340 batting average and near .700 slugging percentage. His favorite baseball moment was either hitting a homerun against rival Live Oak Suwannee or winning the district in 2019 after blowing out Middleburg and finishing off Gainesville for the Tigers’ 5th district championship in a row.

For the golf team, Minson was a 4-time MVP, and birdie leader for the Tigers’ golf team. The Tigers made regionals his first 3 years and Minson finished 15th out of 96 golfers at state this past fall. His favorite golf moment was shooting a 32 on senior night, then turning around the next day and shooting 33 at Haile Plantation.
Minson, who scored a 29 on the ACT and has a 3.7 GPA, will graduate with his AA through dual enrollment. He will continue his baseball career with Embry-Riddle University in Daytona Beach and major in Aerospace Physiology. He will eventually transfer to pursue a career in physical therapy.
